Cesare Maldini: Lippi Is Free To Make Predictions, Mourinho Just Wants The Spotlight
The former Milan and Italy coach says Mourinho just likes to cause controversy, but that the Portuguese tactician's outfit will likely end up Serie A champions once more...
"Who will win the Scudetto is a classic question on the eve of the championship and Lippi, although the national team coach, has every right to say what he thinks freely," he suggested to CNR Radio.
"The fact is that Mourinho wants to be in the spotlight of the media attentions and he has created this controversy."
However, the 77-year-old disagrees with the current Azzurri boss' prediction that Juventus will lift the title at season's end, believing that it's 'The Special One' and his squad that are in pole position.
"The favourite to win the championship is still Inter," he continued.
"Juventus did well last year and has reinforced their squad with Diego and [Felipe] Melo, but I still think Inter are the favourites.
"Milan? They're a good team. They've moved towards youth with [Klaas-Jan] Huntelaar, who now has to prove himself in Italy. They are among the elite teams, along with Roma."
