Goran Pandev is one of the three Lazio 'rebels' who are still with the club, although his exit could be drawing close.

According to Sovietskij Sport, Zenit St. Petersburg's directors are currently in negotiations with Lazio over a €10 million transfer. The Macedonian was previously valued more highly but Biancocelesti president Claudio Lotito is keen not to lose Pandev on a Bosman move when the player’s contract expires next summer.

The 26-year-old scored twice for Macedonia last night as they went two goals up against European champions Spain, only to lose 3-2. Pandev showed his quality, however, and his performance will have done him no harm as many of Europe's top clubs consider placing a bid for his services.

Although many teams have been linked with Pandev, there has been very little concrete interest shown so far. With one year to run on his current deal, there was the belief that the striker would see out his contract with Lazio before moving to Inter, who brought him to Italy in 2001, or Juventus on a free transfer.

However, Zenit's negotiations may now spark definite interest from the myriad of European clubs following Pandev..
