Lazio are pondering a move for Palermo's Fabio Simplicio, according to a report in the Italian media.

The Rome side currently have few options in the middle of the park, despite their inflated squad, and will be shorter still if Cristian Ledesma cannot be reconciled with the Biancocelesti.

In addition, despite some promising performances in pre-season, there remains the possibility that Roberto Baronio will be sold to newly-promoted Bari.

As a result, CalcioMercatoNews.com are reporting that Lazio are in the hunt for Palermo's Fabio Simplicio. The Brazilian was hoping to renew his contract with the Rosanero this summer, but no deal has been agreed as the 29-year-old wanted an improved wage.

With his contract due to expire next summer, Palermo are thought to be willing to cash in on him this year.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has also been considering a move for Lazio's Goran Pandev. If the Biancocelesti follow up their initial interest in Simplicio, the Brazilian could form a make-weight in a potential deal for the Macedonian striker.
