Ciro Ferrara Can Win The Scudetto With Juventus - Marcello Lippi
The national coach has given his backing to the rookie manager...
The Bianconeri have received criticism from some quarters for placing their trust in an untested manager, but Italy coach Marcello Lippi believes that Ciro Ferrara has the necessary qualities to bring the scudetto back to Turin.
"The scudetto will not beat Ferrara, Juventus could win it. Ferrara can win with a great team and a great club. So, why not?" Lippi told Sky Italia.
"Ciro has intelligence, charisma and the ability to get the best out of others."
Lippi coached the Old Lady himself between 1994-1999 and again from 2001-2004, winning five league titles as well as the Champions League in 1996. During his time at Juventus, he revealed that he instructed Ferrara and Paolo Montero to coach their team-mates.
"When I trained Juventus, I told Ferrara and Montero to coach the defence for half an hour while I worked with the midfield and the attack," the 61-year-old added.
The coach also explained that Alberto Aquilani's move to Liverpool would not hinder his chances of playing with the national team.
"Taking a plane to go to Milan or Brussels or Madrid to see players does not make a difference for me," he concluded.
