The Lega Calcio (Italian Football League) will announce the full fixture calendar for the 2009-10 Serie A season on Wednesday.

The much anticipated event will take place in the CONI's salone d'onore in Rome's Foro Italico at 17:10CET and it will be shown on Italian television. The Serie B fixture list will also be announced.

Serie A's first round of games get underway on August 22 and 23 and the season will end on Sunday May 16, two weeks earlier than usual to allow for the World Cup 2010 preparations.

There will be no fixtures on Sunday October 11 or Sunday November 15 because of Italy's international World Cup qualifiers. There will also be no fixtures on December 27 and January 3 as a result of the Christmas break.

Those fixtures will be played midweek on Wednesday September 23, October 28, January 6 and March 24.

Fans will be particularly eager to pen the dates for the Milan derbies, Roman derbies and the derby d'Italia between Juventus and Inter.
