While the Viola fans are waiting for new signings, Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli urges the club to release a few players first...
After finishing fourth in Serie A for the second season in succession, Fiorentina have earned the right to participate in the Champions League preliminary round, which is only a few weeks away.
Coach Cesare Prandelli talked about the team's preparations for this match and, of course, the new season ahead, which will see them aim high again in Serie A as well as in Europe.
"Our preparations are 90% focused on the Champions League preliminary round," the coach revealed during today's press conference.
"A few days later the league will also start and we want to be in a good condition. My players are mature and know the importance of this match."
After the departure of midfielder Felipe Melo to Juventus, the club have not brought in major reinforcements, much to the chagrin of the Fiorentina faithful. However, Prandelli thinks that first some players need to leave the club.
"The squad is numerically too big," he continued. "At the moment I would have to send several players to the stands every week..."
