Lazio President Claudio Lotito: Will We Improve Our Defence Before The Start Of The Season
The chief promised to make reinforcements at the back and commented on Paolo Di Canio after receiving criticism for the former No. 9...
“We [Lazio] have been linked to a number of players,” he declared to Lazialita.it.
“Certainly the defence is one area in which we probably need to make improvements. The club has taken the necessary steps and we have a series of options that we are looking to follow.”
Lotito then looked to explain his behaviour with regards to the so-called ‘three deserters’ in his bid to convince them to stay with the club: “Here [at Lazio] nobody influences anyone else. At the moment in which a player signs a contract, he must do so whole heartedly and not solely for financial reasons.”
Following the recent criticism of Lazio idol Paolo Di Canio, Lotito gave his response to the notion that he has treated Goran Pandev in an incorrect manner.
“Di Canio is part of Lazio’s history and not its present,” he declared. “He is free to express his opinions, but it is down to me as club president to respond to the needs of the club. It is only on these needs that I make decisions regarding the future of Lazio.”
