After making some good progress on the transfer market this summer with the arrival of Italy Under-21 international Robert Acquafresca, it seems Atalanta are ready to make their next move as they look for a midfielder to give the side more cover in the middle of the park.
With new coach Angelo Gregucci identifying his desire for an extra player in the centre, it seems the Orobici are pondering a swoop for the out of favour Sergio Almiron, who has endured a difficult few years in Serie A since his arrival at Juventus.
Given the promise he displayed with Empoli just three years ago, it is believed the Argentine would be happy to consider a loan move to Bergamo as he looks to re-discover himself and carve out a possible future with Juventus.
With the Bianconeri keen to offload Almiron this summer, it remains to be seen whether the Turin giants would settle for another loan deal or prefer to cash in on a player who has fallen well below expectations since his move from Empoli back in 2007.
