Juventus Heir John Elkann Pleased With Del Piero Contract Extension
Elkann is satisfied with Pinturicchio's decision to sign a new deal...
Juventus heir John Elkann flew in a helicopter to the sports complex at Pinzolo, so he would be present for the contract extension of striker Alessandro Del Piero.
The World Cup winner has added another year on to his current deal, meaning his contract now expires in 2011. Elkann is pleased, as he believes the veteran can help the club continue to rebuild after the Calciopoli scandal of 2006.
"I wanted to be here for the renewal of our captain," he revealed after the event, according to tuttojuve.com. "It is another step in the construction of our future."
The Italian has been a symbol of the Bianconeri for over a decade, and continues to perform in the latter stages of his career. In all competitions in 2007-08, he scored 21 goals in 45 appearances.
