Luigi Spaccarotella Jailed For Six Years For Death Of Gabriele Sandri
The policeman who shot and killed Gabriele Sandri has been sentenced to six years in prison for criminally negligent manslaughter...

The decision was made at the Assizes Court in Arezzo earlier today, declining to agree with the prosecutors' proposition that Spaccarotella deserved a sentence of 14 years.
Sandri was shot on 11 November 2007 at a motorway stop near Arezzo, where both Lazio and Juventus fans were congregating. As five Laziali and three Juventini scuffled, Spaccarotella fired a warning shot to ward off the trouble-makers at the service station.
Sandri and the other Laziali climbed into their car and prepared to drive off, but another shot was fired from Spaccarotella, who was at the opposite rest stop, which tragically deflected off a metal fence and went through the window of Sandri's car.
The 26-year-old was killed, and today the policeman's sentence has been announced.
Sandri's death marked violent protests by fans against police both at the weekend's games and in the cities, particularly in Rome.
