Gianluca Zambrotta: Andrea Pirlo Is Fundamental For Milan
The Italian defender believes Milan can do well next season despite losing three stars, and he is hoping Pirlo stays...
The stopper is eager and ready to return to help Milan's quest for glory in Serie A and the Champions League. A number of critics have played down the Rossoneri's chances of success after the departures of Kaka, Paolo Maldini and Carlo Ancelotti.
Zambrotta is trying to stay focused on the future rather than dwell on the past as he gives his views for the season ahead.
"I am ready and we are looking forward to a new campaign. There are many new things and it's a shame that Maldini retired, Kaka left and that the coach went also," the Italian told Sky Sport Italia.
"However, it's a new cycle and we want to do well with our new coach, and the objective is to do better than last year."
All the recent hype at Milanello has been centred around talismanic midfielder Andrea Pirlo. The Italian international has been tipped to leave the San Siro in reports from inside Italy, but Zambrotta has told his team-mate to stay.
"Pirlo? I hope he doesn't leave Milan. I want him to stay as he is fundamental for the team," concluded Zambrotta.
