Porto Reject Fiorentina's Fernando Offer - Report

Cesare Prandelli will reportedly have to look elsewhere for a substitute for Felipe Melo...

Cesare Prandelli - Fiorentina (Grazia Neri)
Reports in the Italian media on Friday suggested Fiorentina had lodged a €7m offer for Porto midfielder Fernando as they seek a replacement for departing Felipe Melo.

The 21-year-old player, who arrived at the Estadio do Dragao in 2007 for a reported €700,000, has established himself as a key player in Jesualdo Ferreira's squad following the departure of Paulo Assuncao to Atletico Madrid.

And, as such, Porto are uninterested in doing business for Fernando, having told Fiorentina, according to Record, they will not sell the Brazilian unless an offer matches his buy-out clause, set at €30 million.

It is believed the Dragons regard Fernando as a player with a lot of potential and want to wait some more time before changing his status to 'transferable'.
