Diego was officially unveiled as a Juventus player today. The Brazilian playmaker is coming off a great season at Werder Bremen and according to many pundits he is a real coup for the Bianconeri.
The 24-year-old talked about his past and his personal life as well, starting from the club where he was first noticed.
"Santos are a great team," he said, as reported by Goal.com Italia. "It's true that Pele was their greatest representative, but other great players should be remembered, such as Elano or Robinho."
On his private life and hobbies, Diego said, "I have a girlfriend and I like pizza. I like Italian people and Italian food a lot, I feel very close to their way of being.
"I also like cars a lot, but I prefer to play. I'm a better player than driver."
On why he chose Juventus, he said, "Any player always dreams of playing for a great club, now I'm there and I want to show I am capable of doing well here. I had no doubts about my choice, I supported Juve since I was little.
"In the last three years I have played in the middle of the pitch, a position close to the strikers, that's the position most appropriate to my characteristics."
Diego also spoke about Alessandro Del Piero, who he could have some rivalry with when decisions are made to take free kicks or penalties, "I think it's an irrelevant detail. We will decide without problems. Del Piero is a genius, I will have the privilege to play alongside him, it's fascinating."
Finally, on his number 28 shirt, he said: "It's the date of my birth (28-2-1985), and two plus eight equals 10, which is a number I have a special relationship with.
