Juventus Icon Alessandro Del Piero Throws Down Gauntlet To Inter
The Bianconeri skipper heaps praise on new boss Ferrara and warns that Juve are becoming a force to be reckoned with.
Juventus star Alessandro Del Piero was in Naples last night for a charity event and, as the Old Lady directors finalised a deal for Fiorentina midfielder Felipe Melo, he spoke about the club’s objectives for the new season.
“I always come to Naples with pleasure, I have great sympathy for the city and the Neapolitans, and I will be coached by a Neapolitan next season,” Del Piero is quoted as saying in the Corriere dello Sport.
Ciro Ferrara has replaced Claudio Ranieri at the helm in Turin and the onus is on the former defender to help Juve wrest the Serie A title from bitter rivals Inter.
“I hope Juve start on the right foot and finish on a high note as well,” continued ‘Alex’.
“I can’t judge Ferrara as a coach yet, but I can guarantee you that he is a great man. I hope that next season will be compelling and we will manage to play and entertain.
“Our goal is to go one better than last season.”
