The player had been linked with Napoli earlier this summer, but the southern Italian outfit opted to try for different options instead, including Lazio's Goran Pandev and the previously mentioned Cruz. However, these potential moves have not panned out and it appears the Obinna move could be back on.
With Uruguayan striker Marcelo Zalayeta possibly joining Bari, the Partenopei are looking for someone to complete a trident attack, along with Ezequiel Lavezzi and Fabio Quagliarella.
Obinna did not have many opportunities to shine with the Nerazzurri last season, only making nine appearances in total, but Napoli believe the speedy striker would be an asset.
The 22-year-old could leave the San Siro for as little as €4 million.
