In particular, Mazzola hailed the purchases of forward Fabio Quagliarella from Udinese and Luca Cigarini from Atalanta.
"Quagliarella and Cigarini are two very good purchases," declared the former Italian international player to Napoli Magazine.
"I know Quagliarella from his Torino days, whereas I saw Cigarini play before. They are two players who can help an already good group make the quality jump.
"[President Aurelio] De Laurentiis, during his interviews, always said that he wanted to have a great Napoli. I expected something and I think that he moved very well in the transfer market.
"I think that Napoli can aim to reach the top four position, then it will be the league that will tell us which of these top four positions."
Last season Napoli disappointed both fans and critics alike, as they ended their campaign in 12th place with only 46 points from 38 games, despite having made an excellent start to the season.
