Rome Mayor Alemanno Defends Totti From Scathing Verbal Attack
Totti has received the backing of Rome's mayor after being verbally attacked by Nicola Irti...
Irti works for the Fio Sports Group who have been trying to aquire a stake in the Trigoria-based club. The lawyer claimed Totti had a negative influence upon Roma and that they should get rid of him.
However, Alemanno has wasted no time in reacting, and he has hit back at the vicious verbal assault on Totti.
"I express my solidarity to Totti," the mayor told La Repubblica.
"Saying he is the ruin of Roma doesn't offend just Totti, but the whole of Italian football.
"We are talking about a great champion both on and off the pitch and he has dedicated his whole career at the club.
"Totti is the symbol of Roma and he deserves admiration from those who love this sport."
According to the latest reports in Italy, Totti is considering taking legal action against Irti.
