Chelsea's demands seem to be scuppering the deal, as they want €14 million for the pair, while the Nerazzurri are not prepared to offer that much cash or would rather include one of their own players in the transfer.
Deco and Carvalho both endured poor seasons at Stamford Bridge, partly due to injury, and may be keen to link back up with their former coach Jose Mourinho in Italy.
The Nerazzurri are attempting to build a squad capable of winning the Champions League, something that both players have experience with. However, the parties seem to be at an impasse.
The latest indications are that Inter will turn their attention to Bayern Munich centre-back Lucio as an alternative, if they cannot secure the services of Carvalho.
