Genoa have finally confirmed the singing of Atalanta striker Sergio Floccari through their official website. The transfer was merely a formality, as both clubs had admitted that a deal has been struck for some time now.

"Genoa announces that it has formalised the outright purchase of the player Sergio Floccari. For the striker from Vibo Valentia, it is a return, having already worn the shirt of Rossoblu in the in the 2002-03 season," claimed a press release.

The 27-year-old was one of the hottest properties on the transfer market, previously being linked with Roma and Juventus, after scoring 12 times in Serie A for the Orobici this past season.

Meanwhile, Genoa also announced that Robert Acquafresca, who arrived in the deal that sent Diego Milito to Inter, will be moving on a one-year loan to Atalanta. Thus, the Bergamo-based club have already found a direct replacement for their striker moving in the opposite direction.

"...Robert Acquafresca, today, has completed the procedure of a transfer in the format of a loan to Atalanta."

The 21-year-old was another impressive Italian striker last season, notching 14 goals in a stint with Cagliari.
