Christian Vieri Set For Blackburn Rovers Trial - Report
Italian reports claim Vieri will move to Blackburn, while voices in England have given the proposed move slim chances of standing up...
Former Milan, Inter, Juventus, Lazio, Atletico Madrid, Fiorentina and Atalanta striker Christian Vieri is set to have a trial with Premier League side Blackburn Rovers as he tries to find a way back into football.
Il Corriere Della Sera reports the 35-year-old, who will turn 36 in 11 days, will have a ten day trial with the Rovers during their pre-season summer camp in Austria which begins this Saturday.
Vieri has been out of action since rescinding his contract with Atalanta back in April. The former Italian international has been trying to find a club, but proposed moves to South African team Ajax Cape Town and Brazilian side Atletico Paranaense fell through.
The Italian paper claims Ibrahim Ba, who played for Rovers manager Sam Allardyce at Bolton Wanderers during the 2003-04 season, is the intermediary of the deal. Voices suggest Vieri is around six kilos overweight, but he is determined to prove himself.
Furthermore, the striker will be offer a one-year deal if he passes the test.
Although there is a strong belief amongst the Italian press that the deal will happen, English reports suggest the contrary.
According to the Lancashire Telegraph, sources close to the Premier League side have claimed there are slim chances that the deal will take off.
