OFFICIAL: Felipe Melo Extends Fiorentina Contract Until 2013
The Brazilian has reached an agreement with the Viola to extend his deal by a further season.
Brazilian international midfielder Felipe Melo has ended speculation surrounding his future at Fiorentina by signing an extension until June 30 2013.
His previous deal was set to expire in 2012, but the Gigliati have acted to fend off interest from top Italian, English and Spanish clubs.
“Fiorentina director, Pantaleo Corvino, has met today in Milan with the agent of Viola midfielder Felipe Melo,” reads a note on the club’s official website.
“Details were ironed out to extend his contract until 2013 and a rescission clause was included.”
Press reports have suggested that Fiorentina are trying to include rescission clauses in all their players’ contracts and Melo’s should be in the region of €20million.
Melo had been recently linked with moves to Inter, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal after playing a starring role with Brazil at the Confederations Cup in South Africa.
