Pele Predicts Diego To Star At Juventus, Italy To Shine At World Cup
Pele talked about the Confederations Cup final, Brazil coach Dunga, the World Champions, and new Juventus playmaker Diego.
Pele was in Bari today to present his 'Pele's Cruise' initiative, and found some time to talk about football, once again making some of his trademark predictions.
He started by discussing Brazil's 3-2 victory against the USA in last night's Confederations Cup final.
"I saw Brazil yesterday," he said to PuntoSport.net, "and I have to say I wasn't very surprised by the difficulties they had against the United States. The Americans have been doing well for some years and they are becoming a reality."
On national team coach Dunga, who has been criticised in Brazil despite getting good results, Pele said, "He is adding youth to the team, leaving home champions like Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, but he still gets results."
He also talked about World Cup holders Italy, who crashed out of the Confederations Cup at the group stage.
"I think they weren't in form, they were not in a good mental or physical condition," he continued. "But in South Africa it will be different, because Italy always give their best at the World Cup and are difficult to beat."
On new Juventus signing Diego, Pele said, "I know him well, because like Robinho he comes from Santos. I saw him grow and mature and now he's ready for Juventus. He will do very well."
