There has been speculation that the defender could depart Italy, however, the latest words of the full-back will surely please the Nerazzurri fans as he revealed that he is happy in the city of Milan. However, he did note that after the holidays he will speak to the club's directors.
"I have a contract until 2013," declared the Brazilian player to 24oredisport.com. "I'm sure that we will reach an agreement, but we must still talk to each other."
This likely means that the player wants an increase in salary, so it all now depends on Inter president Massimo Moratti providing the requisite level of finance to keep the Brazilian.
These declarations have increased Maicon's chances of remaining at Inter, even though it seems unlikely Real Madrid and Chelsea will give up the fight for the star easily.
