Fiorentina Admit Juan Vargas Could Move To Fenerbahce

The Peruvian may be leaving Florence after just one season...

Juan Manuel Vargas - Fiorentina (Grazia Neri)
Fiorentina left-back Juan Manuel Vargas could be on his way to Turkey to join Fenerbahce, according to club sporting director Pantaleo Corvino.

The impending arrival of Drenthe from Real Madrid and the contract renewal of Manuel Pasqual would leave little room for the South American in the squad.

"The offer of Fenerbahce for Vargas is concrete," he explained to Violanews.

"They want Vargas to replace Roberto Carlos and could offer up to €15 million. Before you speak in protest, we are trying to close the deal with Real Madrid for Drenthe."

Vargas had an inconsistent season in his first year in Florence, only really impressing when he was pushed up into a midfield role in the latter stages of the season.

The 26-year-old made a name for himself with Catania between 2006 and 2008, when he proved to be one of the best wing-backs in Serie A. He has made over 20 appearances for Peru at the senior national team level.

He cost the Viola €12 million last summer.
