Italy Will Have An Easy Group In World Cup 2010 - Sepp Blatter
The football chief believes Italy have a good chance of retaining their World Cup crown next year...
FIFA president Sepp Blatter has tried to soften the blow of Italy's failure at the Confederations Cup by telling the Azzurri that they will have an easy group in next year's 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The Azzurri have not fared well at major international tournaments over the last year. They crashed out of Euro 2008 last summer and they failed miserably at the Confederations Cup this time around.
However, there is hope of seeing better results next year as Blatter has promised an easier group stage for the Italians should they qualify.
"The European teams disappointed me [in the Confederations Cup], Italy more than anyone," Blatter is quoted as saying by Goal.com Italia.
"However, I am convinced Italy have it easy in the World Cup. In fact, they will find an easy group as they will not play [the] South American or African champions.
"The format of the World Cup should favour Marcello Lippi's Italy."
