thumbnail Hello,

The chief of Italian football is hoping Italy show their mettle in the battle against Brazil...

President of the Italian FA (FIGC), Giancarlo Abete, is hoping to see a turn around in Italy's performance when they clash with Brazil in tomorrow's Confederations Cup blockbuster.

It's do or die for the world champions as they have no choice but to beat the Selecao if they are to have a chance of progressing to the semi-finals.
After missing the first two matches due to work commitments, Abete has flown out to South Africa to help support the Azzurri.

"Our run has now turned to an uphill task, but we are still in it," Abete told La Repubblica.

"I am now expecting a reaction against Brazil. We all hope to stay in South Africa and continue our Confederations Cup campaign, but we are also watching the quality of play closely."

Italy's hopes of reaching the knock-out phase took a major blow on Thursday night when they lost their second Group B match to Egypt. Anything less than a win tomorrow will see La Nazionale return to Rome empty-handed.
