Gennaro Gattuso Tips Wolfsburg’s Edin Dzeko & Lille’s Adil Rami For Greatness
The Rossoneri pitbull has been watching the central defender closely and believes the young Frenchman can make it all the way to the top.
Dzeko’s exploits in the Bundesliga have been well documented. The young Bosnian forward struck up a tremendous rapport with strike partner Grafite and terrorised defences, ultimately plundering 26 league goals in 32 appearances as he helped Wolfsburg to the title.
Meanwhile, Lille centre-back Rami has matured significantly over the last season with les Dogues, combining his commanding aerial style with some strong tackling, while all but eliminating the lapses of concentration that had previously dogged his game.
France coach Raymond Domenech called him into the national team, and although he is yet to make his debut with les Bleus, Gattuso thinks that it’s only a matter of time before the 23-year-old really starts to shine.
“The first [player to really impress me] is the Wolfsburg attacker in Germany, Dzeko, who I first saw play last October,” Gattuso is quoted as having said on Ligue 1’s official website. “But now, the player I’ll put my money on is Adil Rami!”
While Dzeko is at the heart of a great deal of transfer speculation, including a possible move to Milan, Rami’s future occupies far fewer column inches, although it is believed that Olympique de Marseille were interested in him earlier this year.
