Italy are making steady progress in their preparations for the upcoming friendly matches and the good news is that Gennaro Gattuso is training well.

According to a report in La Repubblica, the Milan man has been busy working hard for La Nazionale. He has been following a different schdeule from the rest of the team as he works towards getting back to his best following his five-month injury nightmare.

Ringhio worked in the gym at Coverciano where he took part in a number of specific exercises. In additon, team doctor professor Enrico Castellacci wanted to reassure reporters over Gattuso's condition after fears emerged during Wednesday's training session.

The rest of the squad worked on the pitch, with coach Marcello Lippi putting his men through their paces ahead of this Saturday's Northen Ireland friendly.

Italy will then clash with New Zealand in South Africa next Wednesday.
