"I write this letter to the fans I have always been close to and that also demonstrated their affection on Sunday," the statement began, according to Sky Sport 24.
"It's a difficult time and I hope the situation soon becomes clearer for both you and me. The only sure thing is that one day there will be no Lavezzi and no [sporting director Pierpaolo] Marino, but this great city and team will remain.
"Today, I only have to choose between dignity and a lack of respect and from the education I've received I'll undoubtedly choose dignity."
Some are taking Lavezzi's declarations as a 'farewell', but his agent has been keen to stress that is not necessarily the case. Liverpool are said to be tracking the 24-year-old in an effort to bring him to Anfield.
