CL Victory Doesn't Make Barcelona Coach Guardiola The World's Best - Marcello Lippi
The World Cup-winning coach acknowledges Guardiola's success, but he feels there are better tacticians out there...
Having guided his side to Primera Division and Copa del Rey glory, Guardiola brought more success to the Camp Nou by snatching the Champions League trophy from Manchester United on Wednesday night.
By doing so, Barcelona become only the fourth side in history to have won the treble, but Lippi does not think that winning the European Cup makes a coach the greatest in the world.
"Guardiola is surely the person who has won the most this year, but there are much more better coaches around the world," Lippi told Tuttosport.
"In addition, Sir Alex Ferguson has won plenty of titles."
Lippi was at the Italian FA (FIGC) offices in Rome this morning as he prepares to announce his Italy squad for the upcoming friendlies against Northern Ireland, and New Zealand next month.
