Nicolas Navarro joined Napoli from Argentinos Jrs in January 2008 and has earned a regular spot in the first team this season due to Gennaro Iezzo’s lengthy injury lay-off.

But rumour has it that the club directors are not entirely satisfied with the Argentine’s performances and could look for a new shot-stopper in the summer.

“I have yet to speak with Donadoni, I know that he will reveal at the beginning of June who is leaving and who is staying,” Navarro told Argentine newspaper Olé.

“I hope they will not bring in another goalkeeper. If that happens, we’ll see.”

Napoli have tumbled down the standings after a bright start to the campaign, but Navarro maintains he made the right choice in joining the Partenopei and insists it is bearing fruits.

“The fans are very passionate here, but things are going bad now and they want to kill us all!” he admitted. “The second part of the season was a disaster.

“But we do specific training for the ‘keepers at Napoli and I have noticed I’m improving with each game.

“My dream is still to gain a place in the Seleccion and, by the way, you have to tell Diego [Maradona] that our masseur [Salvatore] Carmando wants to go with him to South Africa.”

Carmando is an institution at the San Paolo, having worked for the Vesuviani for over 35 years, and is close friends with former Napoli legend Maradona, who wanted him by his side at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, when Argentina were crowned champions after defeating West Germany 3-2 in the final.
