Simone Perrotta Applauds Roma’s Character

The Italian international feels the Giallorossi showed great spirit to overcome Catania yesterday and played down jeers from the Olimpico crowd...

Roma scraped past already-safe Catania in a dramatic 4-3 rollercoaster at the Stadio Olimpico, thanks to a late winner from Christian Panucci.

The Lupi are still chasing a berth in next season’s Europa League and preserved their three-point advantage over Udinese, who defeated Milan 2-1 last night. Despite the win, Roma were still booed off the pitch after the final whistle.

“I am happy at the result and we saw the old Roma out there for a while,” two-goal hero Simone Perrotta told the Roma Channel.

“We always take to the field trying to do our best. Of course, it would be better to play surrounded by a different atmosphere, but the team showed character. We don’t really hear the jeers when we are on the field and I do not want to get into this," Perrotta explained.

“We are very satisfied, as we played great football in the first half. We suffered in the second period, but fought hard until the very end to get a win. Thank God, we won.”

Roma will travel to Milan next weekend before hosting Torino on the final day of the Serie A season.
