With just four games to go in the Serie A season, Inter are leading the way with a comfortable seven-point lead over their nearest rivals and heading towards another scudetto.

Captain Javier Zanetti is confident the Nerazzurri will not underestimate Chievo this afternoon, remembering that the Clivensi held them to a 2-2 draw in 2002, a result that eventually cost them the title.

“Last year’s Scudetto erased that nightmare and we are now looking ahead with optimism,” Zanetti told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We have forgotten everything, including Calciopoli, and we’ll face this trip to Verona in a very relaxed way.

“We have an important advantage and we’ll go there to get a win. We can’t make calculations, we are one step away from a great achievement.”

It would be the fourth Scudetto on the trot for the Lombardy giants, but there are still regrets over their early exit in the Champions League.

“Some have been trying to belittle the Scudetto over time, but I disagree,” insisted the Argentine.

“The Italian league is the most difficult in the world and winning it is always a merit. We have achieved one of our seasonal targets and were knocked out by the eventual finalists in Europe. Therefore, criticism is undeserved and does not reflect the value of this group.”
