Marco van Basten quit as head coach of Ajax on Wednesday, after enduring a disappointing season in charge of the club.
The former Milan legend, only took charge of Ajax after Euro 2008, but has already been linked with the hot seat at AC Milan only hours after leaving the Dutch outfit.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has admitted that the Dutchman has the credentials to be at the helm of the Rossoneri, but was quick to reiterate his faith in current boss Carlo Ancelotti.
"Van Basten has the right pedigree to coach Milan, but for now we have Ancelotti who is doing a great job," was his statement to Sky in the aftermath of the Dutchman's departure from the Eredivisie outfit.
His latest comments will be sure to start the rumour mill turning again as Ancelotti continues to be linked with moves to Real Madrid and Chelsea and a successor will be needed should he depart the San Siro this summer.
