Napoli Linked With Real Madrid Flop Van Der Vaart

A number of suitors are lining up to purchase Real Madrid's Rafael van der Vaart. The player, who arrived from Hamburg in the summer, has failed to live up to expectations at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Yesterday, reports emerged that Bayern Munich were interested in the midfielder, but Napoli are prepared to swoop in, according to Itasportpress.

The Bavarians have made a bid of €9 million, but los Meregues would like at least €11 million for the ex-Ajax star. The Serie A club are considering the player as an alternative if they cannot acquire Genoa winger Raffaele Palladino.

Napoli are attempting to strengthen the squad after a disappointing second half of the season that have seen them plummet down the Serie A standings. The press in Italy have already suggested that they have agreed a deal for Atalanta hitman Sergio Floccari.

Van Der Vaart has made 26 appearances in La Liga this season, over half of them as a substitute, scoring four times in the process.
