After a series of poor results including going over two months without a victory, Napoli opted to sack Edy Reja and bring in former Italy boss Roberto Donadoni.

"To pass the time? I count all my awards," Reja joked in an interview with Il Mattino.

"For now, I will rest. After my beautiful experience in Naples, I deserve a little rest and time for reflection."

The former Cagliari boss admits he does not know what the future holds, but claimed he would be open to a return to the Partenopei.

"It depends on [president Aurelio] De Laurentiis and [Pierpaolo] Marino. I have always said that the option of Napoli would remain open for me, even if in a different position," he concluded.

Reja had been coach of the southern Italian club since 2005, bringing them up to Italy's top flight from Serie C1.
