Player Ratings: Inter 2-2 Palermo

Palermo did brilliantly to slow down Inter's run on the Scudetto. Goal.com rates the players...

Davide Santon & Mario Balotelli - Inter-Palermo - Serie A (Grazia Neri)
Inter

Toldo -6.5:
The Italian goalkeeper had little to do for most of the match as Palermo hardly threatened in the first half. However it was all change in the second half and he made a great save from Miccoli's rifle strike. He couldn't do anything on either of the goals though.

Santon -6.0: Santon made huge strides forward and supported well. He showed good attacking play and was always solid on the right wing. Cool in defence and hustled Miccoli well.

Cordoba -5.5: The Colombian defender was not at his best today. But he did the dirty work effectively and broke up the play. He supported well when going forward, but could have done better on both of Palermo's goals.

Chivu -5.5:
He drifted in and out of the game, much of it was because Palermo hardly came forward in the first half. This led him to relax in the second, and it cost his side as he completely lost Succi for second goal.

Maxwell -6.5: The Brazilian was one of Inter's better defenders. He was everywhere and showed a commanding presence at the back. He closed down well and his charge on Miccoli's strike was brave.

Zanetti -6.5: A good and bad day for the captain. He is the unsung hero for his side and did the simple things well. A great game from him overall with good passing and movement off the ball. An all-rounder, showing great heart and lungs.

Cambiasso -5.5: Not one of his best games by any means. However, he did provide some brilliant defence-splitting passes for Balotelli and Ibrahimovic from deep positions. His game ended there as he never really got going overall.

Muntari -6.0:
Provided a perfect cross from the left which was the assist for Balotelli to open the scoring. He played well and was always looking for the ball. He passed, moved and worked hard.

Stankovic -5.5: He should have done better when he was fed perfectly by 'Ibra', but he fluffed his shot when it was easier to score. Also, he wasted several great chances from close range.

Balotelli -6.5: The only good thing Balotelli did was give his side the lead early on. He didn't really press Palermo when he should have. He offered little support to Ibrahimovic, but scored with his first chance and showed great anticipation to head home.

Ibrahimovic -6.5: A super first half from the big man, but he was selfish at times, going alone when he could have passed to Stankovic. All the usual great skills, but poor control at times and he lost possession often. Nevertheless he won and converted a penalty and was always the dangerman.

Subs: Vieira 5.0, Crespo N/A, Figo 5.5.

Palermo

Amelia -7.0:
A great save on Ibrahimovic down to his near post. Was the busiest of the two keepers, but he couldn't do much for the first goal. He dived the right way for the penalty and was unlucky not to save it. He was beaten by the sheer power of the strike. Nevertheless, a good game.

Cassani -6.5: Showed good wing play and got forward well. He burnt Muntari but his finish didn't match. Showed sublime vision to spot Cavani and supply a great assist for him and the striker obliged.

Carrozzieri 7.5:
Almost a spotless performance on the day. He helped Nocerino keep Balotelli shackled. He was excellent at clearing everything which came his way. Clearly one of the best defenders on the pitch, but he doesn't get a higher rating because he completely fell asleep for Balotelli's goal.

Kjaer -6.5: It's no surprise as to why Kjaer is one of the most promising defenders in world football. Great defending all game, but was punished by the referee who failed to spot 'Ibra's' foul on him and gave the penalty against his side. Unlucky, but a good showing.

Balzaretti -6.5:
The former Juventus man was sublime on the left flank. He got up the pitch with regular frequency and he enjoyed great battles with Santon. He played some brilliant long balls too.

Migliaccio -5.0: Not his best game at all and he made several mistakes early on. Lucky not to give away a penalty when he clumsily took down Muntari, and he crumbled to Stankovic's pressure in the middle. Lost plenty of balls which kept his side in difficulty. Eventually replaced with Bresciano and it changed the game.

Liverani -N/A:
His game lasted just 25 minutes and he was replaced by Bovo.

Nocerino -5.5: He showed good defending against Balotelli in the first half, but tactical changes for the second saw his game end there.

Simplicio -6.5:
The Brazilian was like a hitman, quiet but very effective and deadly. He was the thorn in Inter's side as he thought hard and won plenty of balls for his side.

Miccoli -6.0: The Italian was always ready to create, pass and move. He was always dangerous both on and off the ball, but he was offside too many times. Tried too much skills rather than play simple effective football, but his game improved.

Cavani -7.5: Palermo's jack in the box. Scored the goal to set his side up for a remarkable come-back draw with a brilliantly taken goal. He was quiet and then just popped up out of nowhere to round off a great performance when the chips were down.

Subs

Succi -6.5:
Stunned Inter with his side's second goal with a brilliant strike. In the right place at the right time for his goal.

Bresciano -6.5: Bresciano was the secret to Palermo's super second half and he would have been man of the match if he had started the game. A great 45 minutes which saw Inter struggle to deal with his silky touches and flair.

Bovo -6.0: The stopper came on for Liverani in the first half, but he looked uncomfortable and made some silly challenges, one of which earned him a yellow card.
