Milan ‘Keeper Christian Abbiati Eager To Start Recovery Process
The Rossoneri custodian has said that his knee operation was successful but doubts that he will be back for the start of next season.
Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati underwent surgery on his right knee in Antwerp last Monday to reconstruct the cruciate ligament and is expected to be sidelined for up to six months.
Abbiati returned from Belgium yesterday and looked upbeat, despite the lengthy rehabilitation process that lies ahead for him.“Everything seems fine, but let’s not get carried away,” he told Telelombardia.
“It is going to be a long road back. I just need to keep calm, work hard and be patient. I have not been given a precise timescale; it depends on how the knee reacts.
“I don’t think I will be ready for the start of the new season but hopefully I will make it. I will start working tomorrow and then we’ll see.”
Abbiati was then asked about the Scudetto race and if he was rooting for Juventus to overcome Inter, bearing in mind he had a brief stint in Bianconero.
“I don’t support either of them,” he curtly concluded.
