No Chelsea Bid For Trezeguet - Gigli
The chief has reacted firmly to rumours which are destabilising the club...
Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has scoffed at reports claiming Chelsea made a bid for David Trezeguet.
Reports in both England and Italy claimed Roman Abramovich approached the Bianconeri with an €8million offer for the French hitman. Gigli has reacted to the news, and his words seem to suggest the voices were considerably inaccurate.
"An offer from Chelsea for Trezeguet? I'm not aware of it," Gigli told Il Corriere Dello Sport.
The chief gave short and sharp answers as he attempted to dodge a flurry of questions from the hungry press gang who were waiting outside the Lega Calcio offices in Milan, where a presidents' meeting had taken place.
Buffon recently claimed that he would leave Juve if a big offer from abroad came along. Gigli tried to put the lid on the rumours which followed.
"I hope Buffon's saves will continue from now until the end of the season," added Gigli.
"He has a contract with us and he still has plenty to give to us. Buffon is right to talk about his future, but he will stay with us for a long time."
