Fiorentina In Pole Position To Land Palermo Defender Kjaer - Agent
Despite reported interest from Serie A giants Milan and Juve, the representative for the highly-rated stopper claims he could end up at Fiorentina.
Palermo defender Simon Kjaer has been associated with Juventus and Milan in recent weeks, but his agent Claudio Pasqualin has now revealed that Fiorentina are also in the frame and favoured to secure his client’s services.
“I hope he will spend one more season in Palermo,” the representative told the local edition of La Repubblica newspaper.
“But if [Palermo President Maurizio] Zamparini decided to cash in on him, I think that Fiorentina are in pole position, because negotiations to sign [Chelsea defender Branislav] Ivanovic have stalled and they are looking for a central defender to take the side to the next level.”
Fiorentina have been frequently linked with a move for Ivanovic and seemed close to securing his signature back in January, but Chelsea eventually pulled the plug on the transfer.
Kjaer joined Palermo from Midtjylland last summer for a fee of €4 million and has a clause in his contract which could allow foreign clubs to snap him up for €12m.
