Roberto Donadoni Foresees Bright Future For Napoli

The former Italy boss is adamant that the Azzurri have a duty to reclaim their place among the elite of Italian football.

Former Italy coach Roberto Donadoni takes his first game in charge of Napoli

Roberto Donadoni took over Napoli’s bench from Edy Reja earlier this month and is already making plans for next season, as the Partenopei will look to challenge the top Serie A sides for a place in the Champions League.

“I think there are the best conditions to work under at this club,” Donadoni told Naples-based daily Il Mattino.

“Naples is a great place and it has an important team which need to keep pace with the most successful clubs. Director of sport [Pierpaolo] Marino knows this environment very well and this offers up plenty of guarantees.

“But we first need to understand better what we already have in the squad and this will be one of our objectives in our remaining nine games.”

Napoli have picked up two draws and are undefeated under Donadoni so far and will travel to Sampdoria after the international break.

“We have collected two points, but we could have got more considering our performance against Milan,” the ex-Nazionale tactician noted.

“If we had won that game, no one could have complained. But we have just started and I am fine with it. We must keep improving. It will be a difficult match against Samp, but I expect to see something more from my team.”
