Report: Defender Christian Chivu To Start Inter - Fiorentina Game
The Romanian stopper has shaken off his muscular problem and could partner Samuel in central defence tonight...
Sky Sport 24 claims that Inter centre-back Christian Chivu is likely to be given a starting berth for the Serie A ‘Posticipo’ against Fiorentina this evening.
The ex-Roma defender sustained a muscular injury during the Champions League last 16 first-leg clash with Manchester United and has been missing from action ever since. The Romanian didn't even take part in squad training until Friday.
Now he is being tipped to line-up alongside Walter Samuel or Ivan Cordoba for the visit of Claudio Prandelli's side.
However, it is still unclear who will support Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic up front. Mario Balotelli could find himself relegated to the bench with Brazilian marksman Adriano preferred.
Elsewhere, captain Javier Zanetti will make his 634th appearance in a Nerazzurro shirt, equaling the number reached by Beneamata great Giacinto Facchetti.
It will be fascinating to see how Inter react to their Champions League exit and how the Viola respond to their surprising UEFA Cup defeat to Ajax.
