thumbnail Hello,

The Rossoneri coach has lavished praise on the goalkeeper and believes he should get a second chance in Azzurro.

Milan hammered Atalanta 3-0 at the San Siro yesterday, but it was not until 20 minutes from time that Filippo Inzaghi wrapped things up.

The Bergamaschi created a number of scoring chances, particularly in the first half, but Rossoneri custodian Christian Abbiati performed a series of crucial saves to keep them out.

“Abbiati deserves to be in the national setup,” Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is quoted as saying on MilanNews.it.

“He and [Gianluigi] Buffon are the best Italian goalkeepers and I am sure that [national team coach Marcello] Lippi is paying attention [to his performances].”

The Diavoli have been dealing with a spate of injuries of late, however, ‘Carletto’ is confident they will recover several men this week for the trip to Tuscany to face Siena.

“We have lost some of our quality because we have been forced to field players out of position,” he asserted.

“[Massimo] Ambrosini is feeling better and made a sacrifice by sitting on the bench. I hope that several players will return this week so we can rediscover our best form.”
