Christian Panucci Fires Up Roma Ahead Of Arsenal Clash

The veteran defender regrets not being able to take to the pitch on Wednesday night, but is confident the Giallorossi will turn the tie around and progress...

Christian Panucci continues his fine goal-scoring form for Roma, opening the scoring in the 3-0 win over Reggina.

Christian Panucci cannot be included in Roma's squad for the return leg of the Champions League last 16 tie with Arsenal, as he was left out of the competition’s list after being frozen out of the Lupi side last January.

The ex-Milan and Real Madrid man has since apologized to the club and coach Luciano Spalletti and was in action yesterday, as Roma drew 1-1 with Udinese.

“I have clarified what I needed to and now I feel more serene and an integral part of this group,” Panucci told Romanews.eu.

“I am disappointed that I will not be able to give my contribution in the Champions League, but I’ll be close to my team-mates until 20:44 on Wednesday and charge them up.

“They are very concentrated and I am sure they will put in a great performance. My team-mates will make it,” he stated, confidently.

Arsenal edged the Italian side 1-0 in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium, courtesy of a Robin van Persie spot-kick.
