thumbnail Hello,

The Dutchman is allegedly the main candidate to take over from his former Rossoneri team-mate Ancelotti next summer.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Milan have already contacted ex-Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard to succeed Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the current season.

‘Carletto’s seven-year reign at the Stadio San Siro is likely to come to an end after another disappointing season, as the Rossoneri crashed out of the UEFA Cup at the hands of German side Werder Bremen last week and trail Serie A leaders Inter by 12 points after yesterday’s dismal reverse at Sampdoria.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has reiterated that Ancelotti will be confirmed only if they manage to claim a third-place finish and an automatic berth in next season’s Champions League.

MilanNews.it claims that Rijkaard, who played alongside Ancelotti at Milan from 1988 to 1993, will have to face competition from current Ajax boss Marco van Basten and ex-Italy tactician Roberto Donadoni.
