Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has given his reaction to Milan's defeat against Sampdoria...
Current Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi will forever be associated with Milan and he couldn't resist giving his opinion on their latest defeat at the hands of Sampdoria.
“It’s a real shame,” ANSA reports him as having said, “But it’s understandable, since we have almost a whole team out though injury.”
Although he was in Brussels on Sunday for a European meeting, Berlusconi still managed to catch the game.
“When a team loses players like Kaka and others, everything becomes harder,” said the Italian leader.
"But we won't turn this into a drama."
Milan were eliminated from the UEFA Cup in midweek, and are now only two points ahead of Fiorentina, in third place in the league. The pressure is growing almost hourly on coach Carlo Ancelotti.
“Let’s not make a tragedy out of this,” Berlusconi concluded, “It’s a shame, but in the end we have won everything in recent times.”
Milan's only remaining objective this season is now qualification for the Champions League.
