Corvino: Selling Pazzini To Sampdoria Was Good Business For Fiorentina
The Viola sporting director has implied that Fiorentina got the better bargain when selling Giampaolo Pazzini...
Giampaolo Pazzini has been in fantastic form since leaving Fiorentina in the winter transfer window, already scoring five goals for new club Sampdoria.
The player slammed his former coach, Cesare Prandelli on Tuesday and Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has responded by indicating that the Viola were better off by dealing away the former Italy Under-21 star.
"Pazzini? As I said Sunday, we welcome the fact he is doing well and that Sampdoria spent €9 million for him to be happy, it was a good sale," he explained to Radio Kiss Kiss.
Corvino then answered some questions about Fiorentina's objectives for the season and transfer plans for the summer of 2009.
"We have always said we have two goals, to have players that are able to grow and also players with experience. We came fourth in the league last season and also nearly were in the UEFA Cup final, two major results we want to try and repeat," he revealed.
"[Christian] Zapata? He is a player of Udinese, [Branislav] Ivanovic of Chelsea, these names you have brought up, I just said we could be interested."
Fiorentina are preparing for their crucial UEFA Cup match against Ajax on Thursday, carrying a 1-0 deficit into the second-leg.
