Napoli Hold Crisis Meeting With Fans At Castel Volturno

After a disastrous run of results, the Partenopei have been sent into a week-long ritiro and had to deal with angry fans last night.

Napoli's deep crisis gained further momentum last weekend, Edy Reja's men stumbling to a 1-0 home loss against Genoa.

The Vesuviani have lost five of their last seven Serie A games and have picked up only five points after the Christmas break, dropping from 5th to tenth place in the table.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis and sporting director Pierpaolo Marino have thought it appropriate to continue the team's ritiro (training camp) at the Castel Volturno complex and the Corriere dello Sport reports this morning that a delegation of supporters were allowed to give the squad a talking-to yesterday.

The fans had already voiced their anger outside the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday and it is believed they took the chance to reproach their idols’ behaviour during yesterday’s 20 minute meeting, as rumours persist of some players maintaining a non-professional lifestyle off the pitch.

Napoli travel to Turin next Saturday for a daunting clash with second-placed Juventus.
