Napoli Hold Crisis Meeting After Genoa Defeat - Report
Following today's loss to Genoa, Napoli officials have apparently initiated a crisis meeting to discuss how best to improve matters...
Napoli have been in a poor run of form, not winning a Serie A match since January 11 against Catania, as they continue to slide down the league standings. The most recent disappointment occurred on Sunday, as the Partenopei suffered a 1-0 loss to Genoa at the Stadio San Paolo.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis and sporting director Pierpaolo Marino appear to have reached their limit with the underperforming squad, calling an emergency meeting in the locker room immediately after the match with the entire team and coach Edy Reja, according to Calciomercato.
There is even speculation that Reja could be sacked if Napoli's results do not soon improve.
It is an extremely delicate moment as Napoli fans have gathered outside the stadium in protest of the now lacklustre campaign, that started off so promisingly in the fall with discussion about the possibility of Champions League football next season.
Napoli have a tough encounter next week away to Juventus, but they will still be hoping for a good result in Turin against the Italian giants.
