Galaxy are playing hardball over Beckham. Reports have suggested Milan's initial offer was around €2.7 million ($3m), which was quickly rejected. La Gazzetta Dello Sport claims that this offer reflects the remainder of Beckham's contract with Galaxy, which expires in November. The midfielder will then be available on a free transfer.
Voices from America have expressed their disappointment with Milan's offer, however, Galliani will not budge, leading to speculation that the England midfielder will return to California.
"Milan made an offer that we feel is about right for an eight month loan because, like Tim Leiweke said, Beckham will be able to wriggle free from his contract at the end of November," Galliani told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
"I don't want to cause trouble. In fact, I would like to thank the Galaxy for having allowed Beckham to come on loan over the last few months.
"I will not increase the offer as I have experience regarding player prices and, looking at the European limits, it wouldn't make sense spending any more.
"They see transfers as business in the States. In Europe transfers are made on a technical basis.
"The budget I have is the maximum available."
It is believed that the MLS side are asking for up to €12m for the Englishman.
However, it seems that Milan's plan could be to keep 'Becks' on loan until the end of the Serie A season. They would then send him back to America and re-sign him when the new MLS season ends in October.
